Friday 20th September 2024 - Old Court Nurseries and Picton Gardens
Another shorter three-quarter day. Old Court Nurseries and Picton Gardens. These family run Nurseries and Garden have held the national collection of Michaelmas daisies since 1906, so we are visiting at the right time! Their website quotes the following - We are a small family run plant nursery nestled on the lower slopes of the Malvern Hills. Old Court Nurseries has specialised in Michaelmas daisies since 1906 and are holders of the Plant Heritage National Collection of over 430 varieties which are displayed in the charming 1.5-acre Picton Garden. Winding paths take you round The Picton Garden which is full of unusual plants with something different around every corner. In late winter the star of the show is our collection of snowdrops accompanied by our Plant Heritage National Collection of Polypodiums, a wonderful genus of ferns. Later the heritage Narcissus and gorgeous Alliums take over. Autumn is the time for the Michaelmas daisies. All of which is complemented by a select collection of trees and shrubs. Enroute to make a nice day we will first make a short visit to Ross-on-Wye, somewhere we have not visited as a group before and a nice chance to stretch the legs and find a light lunch or enjoy a packed lunch in the small town centre. We are due to arrive at Old Court Nurseries and Picton Gardens by 14:00. Departing at 16:30 for our journey back to Bath.
The cost is £29.00 per person to include coach travel and entrance to gardens.
To ensure your place, please book and pay the full balance by Friday 26th July 2024
